The day began with the sudden sound of hundreds of starlings, beaks upon
the dry crunching fallen leaves as they fed on the grounds surrounding
the house. I ran to every window and carefully peeked out at them;
their metallic blue black coats glistening in the sun as they hopped
aggressively, an invading nomadic tribe pillaging in relentless conquest .
