I attended "Sacred Music Sacred Dance" by the Tibetan Monks of the
Drepung Loseling Monastery. This event is meaningful to me. I have
experienced it 5 times throughout the years in various places with
various important people in my life. I first experienced the performance
with my mother at the Academy Of Medicine in Atlanta. I believe this was
the first tour of North America by the monks. Later, I would attend
various events and ceremonies and teachings in cities throughout the
world. I will always remember standing amongst the monks in Times Square
looking at the Sony Jumbotron in 1991 as a vivid Green Tara came to life
above on the giant screen. The look of joy on their faces was amazing and
even though I was the only non-Tibetan in the group, I felt aligned in my
heart.
I am incredibly busy now. I have a tremendous amount of work to
accomplish before I get on a plane in a few weeks to go to New York to
record my first full solo album in years. I am reaching for the highest
peak attainable with this work and I am focused and determined to
actualize my vision.
I will be part of an experimental show while in NYC after my recording
sessions. Among numerous new collaborative recording activities in
2008, I will also perform at S X SW in Austin as well as an "illustrated
word" performance in Cordoba, Spain. Tonight, while taking a necessary dinner break, I simultaneously studied
the work of an inspiring film maker with a focused vision : Dead Man on
DVD by Jim Jarmusch.
