Today I climbed to the top of the Florence cathedral. It reminded me of
the time I climbed the steps to the top of the Sacre Coeur in Paris and
the crown/head of the Statue Of Liberty in New York. I thought I did really
well with such a feat of aerobics considering I had two glasses of wine for
brunch only an hour before. I wanted to get a photo of the red banner in
the plaza hanging from the municipal building but it was tied up and not
unfurled as it was the day I arrived. The banner says : HUMAN RIGHTS FOR
TIBET. Today was so sunny that the city changed to one of terra cotta
orange and green and off white cement/stone. Tomorrow I go to the gallery
to see the work of Pietro Della Francesca and then on Friday I take a train
to Venice - which I have never seen. I have learned more things about
myself on this trip. Also I have come to realize that there are those who
are doomed to never be pleased with what they have nor be happy in
themselves even when happiness is standing right in front of them within
their grasp. I have wanted to share experiences and share meaning and
perhaps my solitude is the necessary tool to sharing myself with others
through my work. I deeply appreciate those who support and care about my
work and I am grateful to be working as an artist for years. I promise you
who are reading this that I am continuing to strive with everything in my
power to keep reaching. You are the lover. You are the family. You are the
connecting point.
