Emerging from the fog. Since my last entry here: I came down with acute
bronchitis, went to the clinic for medication and have only now , still
fragile, began to get out of bed and function. My friend Kris tells me
seemingly everyone in San Francisco also has some kind of respiratory
infection. I think mine may have traveled into me all the way from Oslo,
Norway however, and has been gestating inside me for weeks. At any rate, I
am on the road to recovery now - knock on wood. When I haven't been
sleeping, I haven't been sleeping or guzzling down juice and Gatorade, I
have been reading Newsweek, Time, Wall Street Journal, Architectural
Digest, Dwell, and Bon Appetit. All courtesy of Delta Sky Miles. It is
interesting to have illness interrupt your pattern of life. It always shows
a new perspective. I haven't had a cup of coffee or a glass of wine or
heavy foods or stressed myself out over bills or work or deadlines. This
afternoon I even managed to gently swing in the hammock and look up at the
squirrels jumping tree top to tree top as the clouds float by. It feels
like a gift to have so much calm.
