I am now in Lausanne, Switzerland for the final show of the European tour.
Last night was Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands. I had my own room
at a 4 star hotel but was barely able to enjoy it as we had to drive off at
5 AM for Switzerland. Typical.
Still, I would be pretty happy now if I knew for sure that our flights were
leaving as scheduled and not delayed or canceled due to the Icelandic
volcano eruption spewing ash into the atmosphere and canceling flights all
over Europe.
As of today, they are still shown as departing from Geneva for Heathrow and
then on to JFK. I have a show in NY on 21 April and then on 22 April will
finally be on the plane home to Atlanta. I am looking forward to a hot
shower, waking up in my own bed, wearing fresh clean clothing, jogging at
the park, driving my pickup truck, and then preparing for Wave Gotik
Treffen in Germany on 21 May. When I get home again from Germany, I won't
be going near an airport or a van anytime soon.
My passport is essentially filled up now and they don't even stamp it at
most borders any more! We passed through a dozen and a half borders this
tour and I have only 4 stamps so far from this tour. Roadburn is a fun
experience. Inferno is fascinating.
I still personally liked Hellfest even more because of the gourmet cuisine
and more upscale amenities for bands. I also prefer to do evening shows
like we had at Hellfest last June - and Roadburn had us on at 5:20 PM.
However the huge KALI backdrop with my name in red that Roadburn made for
us was INCREDIBLE and came close to making up for the afternoon slot.
