The Wire, Feb 2005:
From: "A User's Guide to Subterranean Metal"
Neurosis & Jarboe

"The inspiring teaming of longstanding Californian heavyweights Neurosis and former Swans siren Jarboe has produced some particularly exotic Heavy Metal fruit. Jarboe's evocative and chameleon-like vocal range is perfectly suited to Neurosis's rich musical blend of Industrial hardcore and psychedelically tinged Metal. For this project Neurosis's music is more symphonic than heavy in structure, with Jarboe's voice merging perfectly with the chiming guitars, keyboards and looped electronic percussion that swirl throughout the production. In the compatible company of Neurosis, her performance is more improvised than her work in Swans. Her vocal shifts almost effortlessly from sinister whisper to telephonic spoken word and (on the synth smothered "Seizure", where she duets with vocalist/guitarist Scott Kelly) an almost Gothic Country croon. Both parties rare perfectly matched, each allowing the other ample artistic space to spread their wings and soar closer to the sun."
