The Islamic holy scriptures , the Qur’an teach: “Whosoever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind” (Al-Ma’dah: 32). For this reason most Muslims do not sympathize with terrorism.

Today the sun is shining, birds are singing, and I am wondrous and empty. How to live life as before ? It isn’t possible. I know much more death and destruction are coming. I realize the U.S. government /military has been far from being beyond reproach in the world’s eyes and even in its own citizens’ eyes. I am also not by nature a flag-waver yet there is never a question of doubting the strength and conviction of the American people. That determination is assuredly as much a part of the leaders and people here as the heartbeat. It is more than waving the flag. It is more than invoking through prayer. It is more than heightened security at airports and air marshals on planes.

It is more than this darkness felt inside.

It is the dreaded realization that the U.S. must utilize our collective capacity into war.

Salaam
