In the past several weeks, people from different parts of the U.S. have been telling me their attention span is shot. They feel distracted and even disoriented, unable to focus. Someone told me years ago that your ‘worry center is working over time’ when you feel like that… And maybe its true. A collective distraction and preparation. For what ?- depends on who you ask. Today I meditated and then played a series of circular chord patterns on the keyboard with closed eyes. I let the sense of aloneness encircle me. ‘The moment’ can quiet the mind of worry and allow focus.

Another more intimate thought : don’t let anyone define you or hold your confidence in their hands. If you look for encouragement and enthusiasm from anyone, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. The thing to remember is that even people you love will say and do things that can hurt your feelings or let you down. And so what you need to ask yourself is why you have allowed it to matter and why you have decided to interpret things a certain way. Know when to walk and not look back.

I had a revelation not too long ago that love matters in my life.

And that there is no one formula.

But every formula must have respect, honesty, sincerity and fun.
