THIS artery will review , introduce , and philosophize (in a way dear to my heart) via classic American Rock. Tonight : more ART as I get out and SEE what people are doing in various neighborhoods in Atlanta AND a stop for vegetables and she crab soup at a cafe. I meet fashion designer, Melissa Coffey. One of the elements in her design is the use of torn and distressed fabric that exhibit even more decay/wear through time. .. The sign at the entrance to the cafe says : No Pissy Attitude . To emphasize this , there is an intentional tongue-in-cheek interior with 50’s floral print tablecloths in places, humorous kitsch such as frankly fake brick wallpaper, and a large collection of thrift shop paintings and garish red chinese lanterns. The sophisticated mix of music played is Euro eclectic and fits perfectly with the attitude. There is a sense of fun here with serious cuisine. The thing about this cafe, Virginia’s, is that you either get it or you don’t. And I get it ! Later, Breathing in deeply with all the windows down, ….I drove home with the radio on, singing with Aerosmith ‘s “Dream On” :

Every time that I look in the mirror All these lines on my face gettin’ clearer The past has gone It went by like dusk to dawn Isn’t that the way Everybody’s got their dues in life to pay Yeah, I know nobody knows Where it comes and where it goes I know it’s everybody’s sin You got to lose to know how to win …. Half my life’s in books written pages Livin’ and learnin’ from fools and from sages You know it’s true All the things come back to you Sing with me, sing for the year Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear Sing with me, if it’s just for today Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away… …. Dream on, dream on, dream on Dream yourself a dream come true Dream on, dream on, dream on And dream until your dream comes true ….
