I attended the opening event for The Last TABOO at MOCA GA. This is an overview of the history of Taboo, which was a group of highly intelligent and talented artists doing work that was controversial, forbidden, barriers breaking. All but one of the artists has now died and for me, the show was bittersweet. Upon viewing the beautiful work of Michael Venezia, for example, tears swelled up in my eyes. http://atlanta.creativeloafing.com/arts_visualarts.html

Later, I went to East Atlanta to The Earl and saw Renee Nelson’s band : Envie. The song arrangements and obvious hard work and integrity of the musicianship were impressive.
