I’ve been enjoying the friendly conversational tone of the Zen and the Art of Triathlon podcast as I go for runs and long brisk walks. A good podcast is a great companion for such activities and a change from music. I missed a few days of running due to some pulled muscles in my back so it feels good to be healed adequately to get outside and GO. Also as I prepare to go on tour, I’ll be stocking up on Hornet Juice. Enhanced endurance is something I can appreciate! We’ve decided we will be doing music from Mahakali, Dark Consort, and Durga. These pieces are heavily textural so to that end, I have been selecting and preparing audio files to be incorporated into the live sound via keyboard/computer in addition to drums/bass/guitar/vocals. I will be keeping up this journal from the time I go into rehearsing to the time I come home from the road and promise to do better than last tour when I wasn’t traveling with a Macbook. I’m feeling at peace with the ridiculous work load upon me this last week before rehearsing begins in New York City. I will try to do the work of 10 people (what else is new) and remain calm and focused and determined. I remind myself about all the utterly Zen experiences awaiting me on stage and that the coolest thing about travel is coming home again. But hey, they go together. XO,j.
